What this site does not do

There are no user accounts, no sign-up forms, no newsletter capture, no comment system and no advertising or social-media tracking pixels. This site sets no cookies of its own, so there's no cookie banner to click through.

The calculators run entirely in your browser

The Zakat, Growth and Tax calculators are plain JavaScript running on your own device. The figures you enter (your cash, gold, shares, salary, HECS-HELP debt, and everything else) are never transmitted anywhere. They aren't sent to a server, aren't stored, and aren't visible to us. Close the tab and they're gone. We could not see them even if we wanted to.

Third parties that do see a request

Being straight about this rather than claiming the site is hermetically sealed: loading any web page involves other parties, and here is the complete list for this one:

WhoWhenWhat they receive
(No font provider)—The site's typefaces used to be loaded from Google Fonts, which meant Google received your IP address on every page view. They are now served from this site's own server instead, so that no longer happens.
gold-api.comZakat Calculator onlyThe page asks for the current gold or silver spot price so it can work out the nisab threshold for you. The request contains no information about you beyond your IP address, and none of your entered figures.
open.er-api.comZakat Calculator onlySupplies the USD-to-AUD exchange rate used in the same nisab calculation. Again: your IP address only, none of your figures.
Web hostEvery pageLike any website, the server delivering these pages keeps standard access logs, which typically include IP address, timestamp and the page requested.

If you'd rather not have the two price services contacted at all, simply don't open the Zakat Calculator. No other page on the site touches them. If those services can't be reached, that calculator falls back to letting you type the metal price in yourself, and still works.

Analytics

We use privacy-focused, aggregate analytics to see which pages people find useful, for example, how many visits a guide received in a month. This is deliberately chosen to be cookie-free and to collect no personal information: no cross-site tracking, no advertising profiles, no attempt to identify individual visitors, and no data sold or shared with anyone. We can see that a page was viewed; we cannot see who viewed it.

External links

This site links out to fund providers, regulators, AAOIFI, ASIC, the ATO and similar organisations. Once you follow one of those links you're on their website under their privacy policy, not this one.

Your rights

Because the site holds no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to look up, correct, export or delete on request. If that ever changes, this page changes with it, and the date below will move.

Contact

Questions about anything on this page can be sent to the contact address published on the site. Corrections to any factual or methodology content are genuinely welcome, see the Methodology page for how the screening figures are produced and sourced.
